Do not be too affraid to run through TZs with Skaven.Īvoid getting bogged down keep driving towards the endzone. You will fail some dodges but suceed most of the time. Wait for mistakes or turnovers that leave the ball carrier vulnerable and use your speed and doging to block the ball carrier. Forcing the opponent to either run through your TZs, keep the ball where it is or move somewhere not closer to scoring. If you manage to keep all your players out of TZs at the end of your turn you will get blocked only once.
Use your TZ's and force the opponent to run through them to move the ball forward. Try to only block when and where you want. Get the ball, hand off or short pass to the next in line who does the same if needed to score. Once you get your GRs and thrower(if you have one) leveled up passing can become safer. Sometimes the best you can do is delay the TD. Once they can get a good cage it becomes tough for a Skaven player. Make the enmy need to go through TZs to create the cage. Use your speed to try to interfer with the opponent creating a cage. Keep as many players out of TZ's at the end of your turn as possible. He can be a big pain to teams like orcs and chaos who find it hard to dodge away from him.īasically they play a running game, but its often rough getting them leveled early on cause they start relatively weak but good skaven teams can out BS even elves.Īnd remember dont get to attached to anyone they are rats they die easily :) Which is basically how you score most often, open up a small hole with a SV blitz then run a bunch of gutter runners through the gap.Īlso unlike other teams whos big guys are often a luxury the rat ogre for skaven is actually pretty important at higher TVs. The linerats are just fodder who basically serve a purpose to screen for your runners or tie people up, the storm vermin are also very important at punching holes through the defense. However they are easy to hurt and should be protected at all costs, unless the situation is desperate you should never willingly base to base anyone with a gutter runner (unless its like a skink or something equally weak) Skaven can easily score from well inside their own half with a simple 9 move run and hand off from one GR to another they can cover 18 squares easily (22 with gfis) if your lucky enough to get one with +MA and sprint/sure feet you can score in 1 turn.
They are arguably (with wardancers) one of the best starting pieces in the game. Skaven rely almost entirely on their gutter runners.
